What is epitomous? It’s my idea about drilling down to the basics of today’s information overload. Trying to dissect information for accuracy by eliminating or often ignoring all the extraneous crap. Extraneous crap, for me, manifests as personal attacks, made up facts and words written merely for provocation and not for honest, open dialogue. Ultimately creating friction and heat in an almost 50/50 ratio in our society.
I have a theory about today’s information. It’s based in the Second Law of Thermodynamics – entropy. The decline of information into disorder. This disorder creates so much misinformation, disinformation and controversy. And, ultimately generates or creates heat. Not heat as displayed in physics but heat as displayed by the social disorder we now see in our culture from this “entropy of information”. I know, anyone with even the slightest knowledge of physics will tell me I’m way off the mark and entropy only relates to the physical. But maybe not.
Is too much information a bad thing? Or is it just that the amount of information is tending toward randomness and if so, is there anything we can do to reel this randomness in or is it just the tendency of information and out of our control? I’d like to hear your thoughts.
